4th Time’s a Charm

February 26, 2010

This is a mid-exam period update! I’ve only 2 more exam papers left to go before I leave Singapore Poly forever! Yes, we are going to rock it out on Wednesday next week at where-ever appropriate. Shopping centre, LAN centre, MacDonalds’, Breeks, etc.

Peace Out.

AMEN!

February 19, 2010

Poly life is coming to an end soon! There are things I’ll miss, and things I won’t. I’ll miss things like rushing off after class to play tennis and get thrashed. But I won’t miss ACC, APP, APPII, CAD, ACSYS, FOF, GEMs, etc.

It really is a big change from secondary school life. I wasn’t ready for it. But in less than 2 weeks, I won’t be studying in Singapore Polytechnic anymore. Its been 3 years, but I feel like I don’t belong in the school. You just jump from the one you’re in to the next.

The next thing for me to do is to go into NS. In an all-guys class for polytechnic education, and going to be in an all-guys world for 1 year and 10 months. I think I’m starting to forget what a woman is.

Speaking of NS, I got the SILVER award for my NAPFA test so I get to shave off that 2 month long physical training period before going into tekong for BMT!

Can, I get an AMEN?

Leave your ‘AMEN’s in the comments section.

School is bad

January 11, 2010

School just reopened today and I got back some test results. I feel really down and about. I just don’t know what to do. This feeling of helplessness always grips me tight whenever this happens. My mind is befuddled with negative thoughts all the time just because of one setback.

Please Lord, help me climb over this setback and set my eyes back on where they were, on you and on the road ahead.

And really, please, you who keep jokingly tormenting me about my insecurities and setbacks. I know you’re just joking and don’t think that its serious. But, I really don’t want to be reminded of my failures every time you pull my leg. Thanks. Peace Out.

God Bless.

Project blues

January 4, 2010

Remember that little science project you had for primary school? That little baking soda plasticine volcano? Or that lemon that you turned into a battery? Then, the teacher would tell you that the class’ projects will be displayed in the hall during the end of the week. As you bring you bring your own creation into the hall, there’s always this little figment of your brain, however small, comparing your own project to the others around you.

During Spinnovex, that’s what my brain just keeps doing. Since our project is an R&D project, we only have data to present. So you ask what our data is on. There has to be something, right? Well, that specimen is Nanopowder. Yes, nanopowder. Awfully boring.

Judge: “Now what is this we have here?”
Group: “This is a packet of nanopowder.”
Judge: “I see. What does it do?”
Group: “Well, it can be a filter, catalyst, and so on.”
Judge: “Well, what can it do now?”
Group: “Nothing.”
Judge: “Nothing?”
Group: “Er. Yeah. Nothing.”
Judge: “Oh.” *Scribbles something like a cross on his judging backboard*
We are so dead.

That really is just exaggerating. But, as I see the other groups lugging their planes, go-karts, and what-not into the exhibition area, I just wish my project dealt with creating something like them. I just feels weird that our project is just data.

Trials and Exaggerations

December 5, 2009

There’s only one more day left to my trial. A trial of strength. A trial of agility. A trial of speed and ability. A trial of heart. A trial of integrity. A trial of love. A trial of temptation. A trial for all times.

The Mechanics III test!!!

Nothing more than scotch-tape

November 28, 2009

There is absolutely nothing going on for me right now. I’m just stoning at home (like the million other times before). I’m trying to get some work done to prepare for next next week’s MST (Mid-Semester Tests). Nothing is going in my head either really. Phooey.

Anyway, Christmas is coming soon and I can already see people in my Facebook Feed talking about the Christmas spirit in the air. I’m thinking of stuff to do over Christmas.

They’re not exactly resolutions. Just, you know, those kind of thoughts where you go, “Hey, that Christmas period coming up? Hmmm, I bet I could get together with my secondary school pals. Or maybe go swimming. Visit a couple of museums!”

That last idea was just lame but, what the heck, you never know.

I decided I would paint my room. My room walls have been the same color day in, day out for the past 20 years. And its white. Not pure white. Its white with some kind of irregular gray dots on them. It looks ghastly. What’s worse, it can be ripped off with nothing more than scotch-tape.

Yes, scotch-tape. The stuff you use to bludgeon your Christmas gift with if you can’t seem to wrap it quite neatly. Just stick it on my wall, and pull it off.

There’ll be a white background (oh, surprise) behind it that has a powdery texture. I think its the last layer before I hit concrete. Civil Engineering of the 20th Century. Fascinating.

Hopes

October 29, 2009

Its already close to the end of the 2nd week of school, and I’ve finished one match of the SP novice tournament! I won, 6-1. The next opponent will be Zhong Yuan. Not so easy then. He has proper ground-strokes, though they’re a little shoddy. His serve is really strong, which is what I’m really worried about. Truth to be told, I don’t know if I can win. I hope I can look back to this post in the future and smile!

Wish me luck!

Fallhand

September 8, 2009

I went to play tennis again yesterday and I totally sucked. Beyond sucked! I was like William Hung trying to dance cool only to fail like mad. My backhand was feeling fine, but the biggest weapon I had on court – the forehand – was totally failing me!

Routine underhanded serve returns flew everywhere. I couldn’t get any court penetration with it because if i managed to hit it, it would be loaded with too much topspin and just ‘stand up’ in the court. I have got to revise my forehand technique. Horrible!

I just returned from a meeting with my FYP group-mates John, Shao Hui, Jimmy and Dalton. We’re going to start production tomorrow! Its really boring stuff, our project, don’t ask. Heh.

Nothing Much

August 28, 2009

There’s only one more hurdle left to go. Its the hurdle that will allow a full sprint towards the finishing line! And that hurdle is the Airframe Systems module! Its been a boring study week and my next test is next friday. I’m going to play some tennis tomorrow which I haven’t done in a damn long while.

Matt-erialistic

August 27, 2009

fedI’m now studying for my QEM test tomorrow. And, about this module, its not about learning how the formulae work. Its all about knowing the formulas! Every. Single. One. Its insane! Thankfully, they work in an entire sequence. A few different sequences of course.

I just heard my dad switch to some channel with football. We don’t have the sports or football channels, which would be great! But rather we have this preview channel (channel 1) which displays certain shows from different channels, and it doesn’t matter if you bought the channel or not. But I want the sports channel for TENNISSSSSSSSSSS.

My parents say its expensive, I can understand that, but I just want it!!! I can catch the 4 most glorious tournaments of the year (Grand Slams) on my tv, along with the lesser tournaments and lots of football too! I wouldn’t mind basketball, hockey, and the like. Sigh, the sports channel is all but mine. :(

I need a friend with the sports channel! I am so materialistic.
